March 30, 2016 Munroe Falls, OH - Hardcoating Technologies is acquired by KYOCERA of Kyoto, Japan. The company will be known as KYOCERA Hardcoating Technologies, Ltd.
The purchase of Hardcoating Technologies by Kyocera is part of the acquisition of SGS Tool Company and its subsidiaries worldwide. Integration of Hardcoating Technologies into the Kyocera family will not effect operations with respect to customers. All associates, including manufacturing, sales, administrative, and executive staff will remain with the new company and KYOCERA Hardcoating Technologies will continue in its current location in Munroe Falls, OH.

December, 2014 Munroe Falls, OH - Hardcoating Technologies expands production capabilities by purchasing another new coating chamber. The Domino L unit manufactured by Oerlikon Metco employs Advanced Plasma Assisted (APA) arc evaporators and Arc Enhanced Glow Discharge (AEGD) etching to produce smoother, more adherent coatings than standard cathodic arc processes.
Summer, 2013 Munroe Falls, OH - Major improvements are made to the Hardcoating Technologies laboratory. New equipment is added that expands the development and quality control processes, including a scanning electron microscope (SEM) with elemental composition capabilities (EDS), x-ray flourescence (XRF) for coating thickness measurement, and a scratch tester for measuring coating adhesion.
November, 2012 Munroe Falls, OH - ISO Certification. Hardcoating Technologies achieves ISO 9001:2008 certification for its Quality Management System. The Quality Management System covers the entire range of operations at HTL, from receiving to coating to shipping of each tool and part.
May, 2010 Munroe Falls, OH - Hardcoating Technologies Limited (HTL) purchases a state-of-the-art HiPIMS sputtering system. This system extends the coating capabilities of HTL to include coatings that are harder, more dense, and with better adhesion than previously possible.
September, 2006 Chicago, IL - Titanium DiBoride (TiB2) introduced at IMTS...Hardcoating Technologies Limited of Munroe Falls, Ohio now offers TiB2 coating.
